Announcing many years in advance is really only a problem if you keep delaying. Just seems like thinly veiled console warring rather than tongue in cheek from some of the replies. I’m happy to know a Hollow Knight sequel exists. Its absolutely possible that Silksong doesnt release concurrently everywhere, especially if someones willing to splash the cash. When ~70% of the games they showed on their showcase last year launched in the 12 months time frame they set, that's not a bad showing especially when the majority were third party. The original launched on PC first, then Switch (which was something of a flashpoint moment for the games popularity IIRC, with the E3 shadowdrop moment), then PS and Xbox later in the year. Nothing on Xbox there for it not launching in that space, especially given its launching on PC, Switch, PS platforms and Xbox platforms on day one as opposed to its original PC/Switch day ine launch. While Team Cherry itself has yet to officially announce a release date, the Xbox Twitter account confirmed Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch by June 2023. Sure, Microsoft doubled down on the 12 month thing but if it had all gone to plan, Team Cherry would be launching this in that time frame. Off topic I know but there's a lot of schadenfreude towards Xbox for this one when it's a independent studio who were aiming for the first half of the year and are delaying it themselves. Just hope that the scope that they're going for doesn't end up being detrimental to the overall game. If the game truly is in its final testing stage, then it's probably that gamers won't have to wait much longer.Sucks that its not going to make the first half of the year but its at least good to have some news on it. And Im not at all a fan of repeating Hollow Knights failed gimmick. The Silksong we all have in our heads will be better than the actual game could ever possibly be. It seems as though Griffin is simply being cautious. The ResetEra Games of the Year 2022 Vote is live Voting will remain open for 17 days, 21 hours. Even so, how much longer will fans have to wait? i didnt expect silk song to make it in 2019 so 2020 makes sense, but weird that they have the release date nailed to the day. Of course, no other delay better highlights Griffin's philosophy than the disaster that was the Cyberpunk 2077 launch.Īnnouncing a release date can pressure developers to rush their products out the door, so it should actually be reassuring to know that Team Cherry isn't setting anything in stone yet. Not sure if eshop is the same as the Nintendo website, but I’m nearly certain that the UK website had the page many months ago, likely when the Switch announcement trailer was made, and it was always listed as TBD. In addition, Halo Infinite missed the Xbox Series X launch, which may have discouraged some from preordering the system. Maybe their employees are getting raises, maybe theyre looking to expand, maybe theyre getting huge bonuses for a job well done. Destiny 2: Beyond Light was delayed, and when it finally came out, players were furious. Silksong will sell great without launching on Game Pass too, but they still accepted money for that deal and didnt just give it to Microsoft out of the kindness of their hearts. Hollow Knight Silksong releases Day 1 on Game Pass ResetEra Light/Dark For information on humanitarian relief/support efforts for Ukraine, and how you can help, please visit this thread. Gamers have seen a lot of this lately with highly anticipated games. After all, it seems like it would be better to have a surprise release than to have a date that is constantly pushed back. According to Griffin, his "own personal philosophy is that you should not announce a release date until you have a build that could be released, and then you're just giving yourself some time to fix additional bugs and market a game." That seems like a sound philosophy and a fair justification.
